Marketing Consultant focusing on Commercial Outcomes.
Marketing consultancy is about understanding the behaviour of your business and your clients. I work across operations, P&L and marketing — identifying which aspects of your business can be leveraged, and tailoring them for growth.

Three ways to engage the consultancy.
These are the three ways I work as a marketing consultant, what each one costs, and what you end up holding at the end. Pick the one that matches where the business is — or say so on the call and I'll tell you which fits. None of them tie you into anything afterwards.
The Foundations
For when the business is real but nothing's set up yet. Every business starts messy — the point is not to still be messy in two years, because unpicking it later costs far more than laying it down properly once. Three tiers, depending on how much you want built.
The essentials, done properly
- Your ideal client profile — who you're actually for, written down and agreed
- Social profiles set up properly: handles, bios, and a look that matches
- Digital foundations sorted — Google Business Profile, tracking, the basics that get skipped
- Straight advice on your website: what you need, what you don't, and what it should cost
- A headshot, so you're not cropping yourself out of somebody's wedding photo
The essentials, plus a look of your own
Everything in tier one, and:
- A visual identity built for you — logo, colour, type, and the rules for using them
- Applied across your profiles and templates so it stays consistent without you policing it
The whole thing, built to the business
Everything above, and:
- Full visual identity and brand package
- Website designed and built
- Brand and marketing strategy, written for where you're actually going
This is the one if you're starting out, or a year or two in and still running on things you set up in a hurry.
The Commercial Diagnostic
For when you're spending money on marketing and couldn't defend it if your accountant asked. I go through every channel against what the business actually needs, and tell you where the money's quietly leaking out.
- A written diagnostic — the reasoning included, not just the conclusions
- Every channel assessed, with the numbers underneath it
- The three to five things worth fixing, ranked, with costs against each
- Ninety minutes walking you and your team through it
- The roadmap is yours. Take it to whoever you like.
This is the one if the last round of marketing spend didn't produce anything you could point to, or you're about to commit serious money to a website or a rebrand and want a second opinion first.
The Strategy Build
For when you know the direction's wrong but not what right looks like. We build the foundation properly — the least glamorous part of marketing, and the first thing that gets skipped when there's no one senior holding it.
- Your positioning and messaging, written down and settled
- A clear picture of who's worth chasing and who isn't
- A twelve-month channel plan with the budget split out
- A way of measuring it that talks about revenue, not impressions
- Briefs your team or your suppliers can actually work from
This is the one if growth has flattened out, or what got you here plainly isn't going to get you where you're going.
Where is a marketing consultant most useful?
Five situations where it tends to be worth the money. Pick the one that sounds most like you and I'll tell you where I'd start.
This falls apart if you're not in it with me.
The work depends on this as much as it depends on me. Worth knowing before you commit to it.
Let me see the numbers
Revenue, margin, what a customer costs you to win, what they're worth over time. If I can't connect the marketing to the P&L then nobody can judge it, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
Put someone in the room who can say yes
If everything I recommend has to go up a chain to get approved, the whole thing moves at the speed of that chain and you've wasted the fee.
Be honest about what's already failed
Not the version you'd give an investor. Half of what's useful in the first session comes out of the things you've quietly tried and dropped.
Be willing to stop things
Most of what I'll recommend early on is stopping, not starting. If there's a channel you're fond of that's losing money, I'm going to say so.
What came out the other side.
Enquiries were coming in. Nobody could say which ones were worth having.
Paid search, organic social and SEO were all running, all reporting separately, and none of it tied back to occupancy — which is the only number that matters in care.
I put the channels under one attribution framework, defined what actually counts as a qualified enquiry, and rebuilt the reporting so the board sees cost per qualified lead and its effect on occupancy. Qualified leads are up 28% year on year, and leadership can now tell which channel produced them.
What clients say.
Unlike other agencies or consultants, Connor is focused on getting things actioned rather than writing reports and strategies that don't get implemented. You can be confident that what he recommends will actually happen.
He gave me excellent advice on improving my social media presence, and thanks to his help, I'm now fully booked at Lynne the Hair Salon.
As an accountant it's refreshing to work alongside a marketer who genuinely understands the financial side of business. He communicates clearly and aligns his work with commercial targets.
Motion Wave were the best choice I made to assist me in starting up my own business. Connor has enthusiasm and intelligence to scrutinise the business, pick out the gaps and focus on those issues. Then watch your audience and sales change within weeks.

You decide
Whether I'm the one who does it is up to you.
If you'd rather someone just ran it.
Some businesses need the answer once. Others need the decisions made every week — where the budget goes, which suppliers stay, what the board hears at the end of the quarter. That's a monthly arrangement, and it's a different page.
Same person, same thinking, just held continuously rather than handed over.
The questions I get asked before every engagement.

Fifteen minutes, with me. Bring the thing you can't currently explain — the spend you can't justify, the growth you can't predict, or just the fact that nothing's set up properly and you don't know where to start. You'll come off the phone knowing whether I can help and which of the three you need.
